Mosquito repellent Television Set

South Korea`s LG Electronics Inc, Indian`s arm has launched and begun sale of a mosquito repellent television sets.  The TV is the LG 32LH520D. Contrary to expectations the big features of the TV is not more resolution or smart functionality or even screen size. The big feature with this TV set is that it has technology inside that should be able to repel mosquitoes.

Mosquitoes are a menace in most parts of the world thanks to the numerous and potential diseases and infections they can spread including Zika, dengue and the ever deadly Malaria. The new TV set generates ultrasonic sound waves which repel mosquitoes as they hate the sound. Since the sound waves are inaudible to the human ear, they do not bother viewers.

The Mosquito Away technology, certified to be effective has been used by LG in washing machines and Air Conditioners. The technology has the capability to perform even when the television set is turned off. 

The TV is targeted at lower-income consumers living in conditions that would make them vulnerable to mosquitoes. It will go on sale next month in the Philippines and Sri Lanka. Kim Sang-yeol, an LG Electronics official, said there are no plans for now to market it elsewhere.

LG were to quick to remind us that this technology is not meant to replace other forms of mosquito repellent.
